Stainless steel powder is atomized from austenitic low-carbon Cr-Ni steel. By the addition of Mo, general resistance to corrosion is enhanced. Thus, the material is suited for components in harsh chemical environments. Applications are also found in oil&gas, medical industry, tooling and general engineering. It is also used for consumer/lifestyle products as watches and glasses frames. The low carbon content reduces the formation of carbides at elevated temperatures over 420°C. Steels – powder for additive manufacturing
3D printing with steel is suitable for various applications in the oil and gas industry, the medical industry, general engineering and for the production of injection moulds in toolmaking.
Stainless steel (1.4404/316L) in additive manufacturing – for components with a high resistance to corrosion and a high hardness
Features:
- Good corrosion resistance
- High hardness
Applications:
- Heat exchangers
- Components for the chemical industry
- Marine applications
- Turbine parts
- Jewelry and watches
Tool steels in additive manufacturing – for components that are exposed to high stress
Tool steels are characterized by a high wear resistance due to high hardness and enhanced ductility. Components made of tool steel are used in high-strain applications, as tooling and molds. Wear rate is additionally reduced by a comparable high operating temperature. Final milling can be performed also in the annealed condition. Tooling components can be featured with e.g. cooling channels by additive manufacturing in order to reduce cycle times and improve molding processes.
