AMLOY heralds an industrial revolution and presents the processing of amorphous metals with near net shape processing technologies, i.e. 3D-printing and injection molding.

Amorphous metals, also known as metallic glasses, are undercooled frozen metallic liquids. They show material properties which normally exclude each other, i.e. high hardness and strength with high elasticity at the same time.

Amorphous metals extend product lifetime through reduced abrasion and corrosion resistance. Through the high strength of the material, they also play an important role in miniaturization. Isotropic behavior enables the simplification of specifications and product designs.

At AMLOY, amorphous alloys are processed by injection molding and 3D printing into near-net-shape components at industrial scale. The advantages of additive manufacturing are the realization of large component dimensions and complex geometries as well as design optimizations by taking advantage of the exceptional material properties.

“We are excited to participate in this year’s Formnext Connect to show you our advancements in the manufacturing of amorphous components via injection molding and additive manufacturing. Together with our machine partner Trumpf, we achieved to manufacture higher quality amorphous products in 3D-printing through coordinated equipment, material and process development. Combining our material’s properties with those promising technologies open completely new fields of applications and pushing todays limits to the next level. Challenge us with your product ideas which were hindered by material properties known as of today. We are looking forward to meeting and discussing with you during this upcoming digital event.”

“It is our pleasure to have the opportunity to present our offering to a wide range of people despite the current pandemic situation. During Formnext Connect, we will explain how our solutions improve your products and facilitate to realize components you did not think were possible. This is enabled by taking advantage of the material properties of amorphous metals which we process with our near net shape technologies into high quality products. With our offering we support miniaturization, extension of product lifetime as well as increasing performance of your existing and tomorrow’s solutions. Be our guest, convince yourself how our solution benefits you and enjoy the event.”
