Antistatic Packaging Trays

After being assembled, displays and related parts and components for smartphones and tablets are usually transported either within the factories or to another facility. The plastic packaging trays used for this purpose must have antistatic properties as static charges can cause numerous problems. Common on plastic surfaces, these charges can attract dust and cause ESD (electro-static discharge) damage to sensitive electronic components and devices.

Plastic surfaces coated with Clevios™ have an antistatic, static dissipative, or conductive finish with precisely tunable sheet resistances (SR) in the range of 10E4 – 10E10 Ohm/sq. Applied to packaging trays, Clevios™ protects your products from issues caused by static charges.

Antistatic packaging trays are made by coating plastic sheets with a special Clevios™ formulation, e.g. Clevios™ F AS. After drying, the antistatic sheets are thermoformed into packaging trays. Thanks to the intrinsic flexibility and high temperature stability of Clevios™, the antistatic properties survive the thermoforming process.

Heraeus also offers Clevios™ P T2and Clevios™ P T4, an aqueous PEDOT:PSS dispersion that can be used as raw material for coating formulations, and has developed special materials that enable higher elongation in the thermoforming process of up to 500%.
