Heraeus Electronics, a leading provider of material solutions for electronics packaging, has received the 16949 certification of the International Automotive Task Force (IATF) for its site in West Conshohocken, Pennsylvania. The accredited verification ensures that the requirements for international quality systems for the automotive industry are fulfilled at any time.
“In a highly competitive environment like the automotive industry, a high level of efficiency and quality must be guaranteed,” says Dr. Klemens Brunner, President of Heraeus Electronics. “We are therefore very proud that with our site in West Conshohocken, Pennsylvania another Heraeus site has been IATF 16949 certified. It shows our continued focus on excellent customer support."
As today's supply chains become progressively complex, the need for stricter quality controls with standardization is increasing. Companies operating in the automotive industry should therefore become more and more agile and continuously adapt to new needs and innovations. The IATF 16949 focuses on elements such as product safety, risk management and contingency planning, various embedded software requirements, change and warranty management as well as sub-tier supplier management.
The qualification is a further step for Heraeus Electronics in being able to promote and advance its commitment to the automotive industry. Besides the site in Pennsylvania, Heraeus Electronics has two sites in Europe and five sites in Asia that are IATF 16949 certified.
At its site in Pennsylvania, Heraeus focuses on the production of thick film materials such as conductive, dielectric and resistive inks. Thick-film technology is used in many areas of electronics where a high degree of reliability and quality is required – a specific area of use for these materials is the automotive industry. In addition to thick film production, the site has a R&D facility and houses a SMT customer application center allowing Heraeus to optimize customer processes and troubleshoot current industry challenges.
