Modern cementing technique

Modern cementing technique is considered as ’state-of-the-art’ in endoprosthetics. It describes the combination of different elements that contribute to sustainable surgical outcome:

  • choice of a suitable bone cement
  • vacuum mixing systems that produce homogeneous, standardised mixtures
  • bone bed cleaning with a pulse lavage system
  • pressurisation

The PALABOWL® vacuum mixing bowl allows excellent visibility and monitoring of the blending process

  • Paddle design with rotating axis - allows homogenous mixing of the bone cement, unmixed cement powder is kept as low as possible
  • High capacity - the volume of PALABOWL® allows mixing of up to three pouches of 40g of bone cement
  • Spatula and curette match the contour of the bowl meaning cement can be removed from the bowl with virtually no waste
  • Transparent material allows monitoring of the mixing process from any angle

In addition to vacuum mixing and pressurisation, bone bed cleaning with a pulse lavage system has evolved to become an important aspect of modern cementing technique. The risk of revisions is much lower according to study data.

The bone bed can be cleaned effectively with a pulse lavage system, leaving the surgical site ideally prepared for the application of cement.
