Protection against contamination is the top priority in food production, therefore, pathogens must be completely removed. This can be achieved by ultraviolet light – in a very environmentally-friendly way without the addition of chemicals or costly cleaning processes.

Efficient reduction of grease and odors

The use of grease and oil, particularly in commercial kitchens and industrial food processing steps, causes unpleasant odors and deposits. Grease deposits in canopies and exhausts are a major fire hazard as grease separators catch only up to 95 % of the grease in the exhaust air. The rest of the grease is precipitated in the hood body and the exhaust air duct. Special UV light photolyzes, destroys and neutralizes the molecules of greases and odors and keeps air and exhaust duct clean.

Certain applications in the food and beverage industry, such as packaging and bottling, require a high level of disinfection in a short period of time, typically in a fraction of a second.

The light released from Xenon Flash lamps are able to destroy bacteria and other microorganisms effectively through thermal disintegration and DNA modification. The high intensity that is possible with Xenon Flash lamps mean that the disinfection process can be carried out in a short period of time, as required by the industry. Consequently, the short disinfection time means that the substrate temperature remains cold, and thus the substrate remains unaffected.

Processing chocolate, filling candies, pre-browning instant meals or heating surfaces of foods: exact temperatures that avoid overheating of the food are required in the food processing industry. Infrared emitters transmit heat without contact and only as long as necessary.
