Heraeus Photovoltaics widens product portfolio and markets innovative Infrared Emitters for silicon solar cell production

SHANGHAI, CHINA – April 21, 2017

  • New offerings use quartz reflective coatings (QRC), which enhance the performance of high temperature process steps.

Heraeus Photovoltaics, a leading provider of Heraeus Photovoltaics, a leading provider of technology and service solutions for the renewable energy industry, is now offering innovative Infrared Emitters (IR-emitters) for optimized diffusion, Anti-Reflective Coating and drying processes in silicon solar cell production. IR-emitters react instantly and are therefore easy to control and regulate.

The IR-emitters are entirely made out of quartz glass, which has an unmatched purity to avoid contamination and allows the transfer of large amounts of energy in a contact free manner. Its outstanding stable temperature resistance enables applications under vacuum and ensures a particularly consistent process and increases the overall energy efficiency of the production process. As the reflector is coated with nano opaque (white) quartz glass (QRC), the IR-emitters allows for a very compact design and thus requires very little working space. Quartz glass is also resistant to acids, lyes and other aggressive substances.

Heraeus IR-emitter solutions are tailor-made for the short and medium IR-wavelengths required in different process steps of the solar cell production. Due to their high reliability and consistency of heating process an increased production yield is possible. Furthermore, the instant heat emission allows the homogenous heating of solar cell wafers with very fast response times of 1-2 seconds. The high quality of the IR-emitters also ensures increased uptimes.
