Japan. An East Asian island nation in the Pacific Ocean, which includes 6852 islands. Besides crowded cities and large imperial palaces, Japan can convince with its mountainous national parks and countless shrines and temples. With a top speed of 320 km/h, the Shinkansen high-speed trains connect the main islands of Kyushu, with the subtropical beaches of Okinawa, Hokkaido, with its renowned ski resorts, and Honshū. The last is the island where the capital of Japan is found. Tokyo. Here neon lights and skyscrapers meet historic temples. A large city consisting of 655km² with a population of around 9,700,000. Home of this year's Metal Japan. A world-leading exhibition for high-functional materials, which gathers a wide range of metal materials and processing equipment, testing and analysis equipment, recycling technologies and is held twice a year. Highly-functional Material Week consists of 6 trade shows for advanced film, plastic, metal, ceramic, joining and coating technologies. As part of this year's event, Heraeus AMLOY will be presenting Amorphous Metals "From Scientific Innovation to Series Application". In addition to our experts from Karlstein, the headquarters of Heraeus AMLOY, other colleagues from Japan will be on site to actively support the team.

  • The ancient imperial city of Kyoto
    Hundreds of shrines and Buddhist temples can be admired in the ancient imperial city. In addition, many atmospheric gardens, small old alleys, historic architecture and top-class museums can be found and offer a highlight on your Japan trip. The Golden Pavilion Kinkakuji, which is decorated with real gold leaf and the view from the terrace of the Kiyomizu Kyoto Temple are famous among tourists and also the old geisha district Gion and the opulent palace of the Shogun offer impressions that remain long in the memory.
  • Hakone & Mount Fuji
    A recreational area known for its countless hot onsen with various types of spring water. In addition, you can enjoy a the breathtaking views of Mount Fuji. In addition to a mountainous landscape and a beautiful location on Lake Ashi, the region is one of the most charming landscapes in Japan.
  • Sacred Temple City of Koyasan
    The Buddhist temple town is considered sacred in Japan and exudes an enchanted atmosphere. More than 100 temples are located here in a very small area and most of the residents are monks. In addition, it is possible to spend the night in one of the ornate temples. While you sleep in classic tatami rooms, the food is purely vegetarian and you can attend the morning devotions of the monks.
  • Hokkaido
    The northernmost of the main islands is particularly popular for its volcanoes, hot springs as well as ski resorts. Daisetsuzan National Park, home to the smoking Asahi Volcano Mountain, and Shikotsu-Tōya National Park, which includes the caldera lakes and Mount Yōtei, are particularly impressive. The ski resorts of Rusutsu, Furano and Niseko are popular.
  • Snow monkeys at Jigokudani Monkey Park in Shiga Kogen National Park
    Jigokudani Monkey Park is part of the Jōshin'etsu-Kōgen National Park. The Jigokudani Valley, also called Hell Valley, consists of many hot springs that rise there and spray hot steam. In order to preserve and protect the habitat of the bathing monkeys, the park was built far from the nearest town, Yamanouchi. However, it is not fenced, so the monkeys can come and go as they please.
