Heraeus AMLOY - Yesterday a Start-Up, Today Unstoppable.

11 Dezember

It all started in early 2017 when Heraeus decided to enter the amorphous metals market and established a dedicated unit for this purpose. In order to advance the development of technologies and materials for the processing of amorphous metal components by injection molding, a strategic partnership was entered into with the company ENGEL. Less than two years later, in 2019, AMLOY was spun off as an independent legal business unit, becoming Heraeus AMLOY Technologies GmbH. The team also passed its first TÜV audit and received ISO 9001 certification. In 2020, Trumpf joined Heraeus AMLOY as a strategic partner in additive manufacturing, working with Heraeus AMLOY to advance 3D printing of amorphous components to production readiness. In early 2021, the growing team moved from Heraeus headquarters in Hanau to Karlstein am Main. There, the ideal conditions for further growth were created, and the operational, commercial and innovative areas were united under one roof. Another project that gave Heraeus AMLOY another unique selling point was the development and production of an in-house injection molding system (more on this behind door number 16). In addition, the start-up Amorphous Metal Solutions (AMS) was acquired, which continues to operate as an independent unit, but strengthens Heraeus in the field of amorphous metals. This year also saw the achievement of another milestone. Heraeus AMLOY had received its first order for large-scale production from a well-known professional audio solutions company. Since then, 3D-printed pairs of headphones have been leaving Heraeus AMLOY's production facility every month and making their way to Ireland (for more information on the first series production, see door 7). But this was only the beginning. In the meantime, Heraeus AMLOY not only produces amorphous components as series production in the additive field, but also via injection molding. In addition, Heraeus AMLOY is tapping into the Japanese market through local sales efforts and with the help of local press events, webinars, and participation in Metal Japan in December 2022.

AMLOY has also set its sights high for 2023. For example, it has just commissioned the manufacture of additional injection molding equipment in order to be able to ramp up further series products. Furthermore, the team is working on its internationalization in addition to the European and Japanese markets.
