Do you know why our customers buy air purifiers with UV light?

Nobody would have suspected that the corona pandemic would last so long. We have all had our experiences with lockdown, working from home and online classes.

First Beta, then Delta, now Omicron and who knows which mutation is next? We would all like to have as much protection as possible from these dangerous viruses.

Heraeus Noblelight has decades of experience with UV disinfection, treatment of drinking water, disinfection of food packaging and air treatment.

Since the corona pandemic, we carried out several studies that confirm the effect of UV light against viruses. We asked experts to evaluate these studies and also collected statements from our customers.

What our customers say:

  • "We believe that our nursing home with the Soluva ® devices is not only better protected against Covid-19, but also against multi-resistant germs!"
  • “If we had bought a device with HEPA air filters, our caretaker would have had to keep replacing the virus-filled filters. We didn't want that! "
  • "When using air disinfection with UV light, it was important to us that the devices have certificates [proving effectiveness] and that we can trust the quality"
  • "Above all, we wanted to build in additional protection for the children in our school buses!"
  • "Of course we adhere to all hygiene measures. However, our patients and our staff appreciate the UV air purifiers as valuable, additional protection!"

This is what the expert, Professor Clive Beggs, Queen Mary University, London, UK says:

Aerosol und Coronavirus
  • There is clear evidence that the SARS-CoV-2 virus is mainly transmitted via aerosols, with spreading both near and far.
  • Laboratory studies (including those from Heraeus Noblelight) confirm that in addition to filter technologies, UV disinfection in particular can successfully remove or inactivate the SARS-CoV-2 virus in the air. It is now recognized that both technologies can be extremely helpful in combating the spread of COVID-19.
  • Guidelines on the use of indoor air purifiers or UV air disinfection in connection with COVID-19 are on the way, including recommendations on how best to use these technologies to contain the transmission of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

As a result, Professor Beggs comes to the conclusion that the air disinfection products of the Soluva ® program from Heraeus Noblelight have considerable potential to significantly curb the transmission of the SARS-CoV-2 virus in buildings.
