Heraeus to close Goldstore in Hanau and online shop at the end of 2026

Hanau, 9 September 2026 – Heraeus will discontinue the direct sale of precious metal products to private customers (B2C). The decision affects the Heraeus Goldstore in Hanau, the online shop www.heraeus-gold.de and the purchase of scrap precious metals from private customers. Business operations will continue until 30 November 2026. The subsequent wind-down phase is scheduled to be completed by the end of the first quarter of 2027.

The decision by the management of the Heraeus Group is part of the company’s long-term corporate strategy. As part of this strategic direction, Heraeus will focus even more strongly on its core and growth businesses in the future. These include business models with commercial customers (B2B), innovative technologies and future-oriented growth areas.

“Operating a physical store and an online shop requires complex processes and structures that no longer align with the company’s strategic direction. For this reason, we are sharpening our focus and will concentrate even more strongly on the areas where we see the greatest long-term potential for growth and value creation.”, says Dr. Steffen Metzger, Managing Director Precious Metals and Member of the Board of Managing Directors of the Heraeus Group.

The measure affects a single-digit number of employees, who have already been informed personally. Individual solutions are being considered for the employees concerned.

Heraeus will, of course, fulfil all existing obligations towards its customers. All orders received before the closure will be properly processed and delivered. The company will also remain available to address customer enquiries during the subsequent wind-down phase.
