Hanau, May 20th, 2026– The Heraeus Group has signed an asset purchase agreement for Heraeus Remloy, its recycling business for rare earth magnets, with the Canada based Mkango Resources Ltd.

Mkango is a mineral exploration and development company focused on rare earth elements and associated mineral, listed on the AIM in London and the TSX-V in Canada. With this step, Heraeus further drives the strategic portfolio development of its four Business Areas Precious Metals, Healthcare, Semiconductor & Electronics and Industrials.

The transaction is expected to close in the summer of 2026, subject to customary closing conditions and receipt of required regulatory approvals.

Heraeus Remloy is an inhouse startup located in Bitterfeld, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany, and offers full-service solutions for a sustainable and reliable source of neodymium-iron-boron magnetic materials in Europe. By recycling end-of-life rare earth magnets via a melting process, the so-called medium loop recycling, it produces neodymium-iron-boron (“NdFeB”) alloy powders which customers can then use to manufacture new permanent magnets.

Frank Stietz, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Managing Directors of the Heraeus Group, said: “The sale of Heraeus Remloy is a logical step in our strategic portfolio optimization. Over the past few years, the Remloy team has built a strong technological foundation through great dedication and entrepreneurial pioneering spirit. With Mkango as a leading company in the sector, we have found the right partner for Remloy to realize future growth.”

William Dawes, Chief Executive of Mkango, said: “The acquisition of Heraeus Remloy supports Mkango’s corporate strategy to become a market leader in the production of recycled rare earth magnets, alloys and oxides. The existing Remloy technology complements our HyProMag business in Pforzheim, Germany, and significantly strengthens our production capabilities in Germany. We look forward to working with the entire Remloy team and all stakeholders to further develop the rare earth supply chain and ecosystem for recycling and magnet manufacturing in Germany.”
