I first came into contact with Heraeus in 2011. I had recently finished my Business school and started working in Mumbai with a rating agency. At short notice, I was given the opportunity to meet some Heraeus managers. Their unassuming behavior, genuine interest in India and above all their strategic way of thinking made a big impression on me.
Then I found the Graduate Program Finance & Controlling, as I kept in touch with the people I met at the seminar. And as I had already been to Reutlingen once before and was keen to go to Germany, I applied straight away. After that everything happened very quickly: I was invited to an assessment center and then to a personal interview and was offered a position on the same day. From then I had three months to move to Germany.
Right from the beginning, I was given the opportunity to work on a big project: the introduction of a new IT systems on a global scale covering the entire group. This system will help to standardize our worldwide trading processes for precious metals. We have just finished the test roll-out in Hong Kong. It was exciting to see a project being implemented after we had worked on it for months. And even more exciting for me was that I could go to Hong Kong several times to help with the testing and the final roll-out.
As a trainee, I can work with my mentor to decide what projects I’d like to be involved in and I’m expressly encouraged to contribute my own ideas and visions. The next step on my journey will be the Treasury department and then I’ll go to Heraeus Noblelight in England. This is something I like about Heraeus: my path is not set in stone.
