This is how the density of IP9217 looks like under the scanning electron microscope.

What is the recommended firing profile for IP9217?

Firing Profile for IP9217

The recommended firing profile for IP9217 follows the 850°C firing profile air fireable conductors, resistors and dielectrics.

What conductors are recommended for IP9217?

C8728 Pb/Cd Free Silver Conductor Paste

C8727 is a lead, nickel and cadmium free fritless Ag conductor that yields a smooth, dense film. It exhibits high adhesion to alumina and IP9217 multilayer dielectric. C8727 can be multiple fired without any loss of performance.

This low cost silver material offers:

  • inner layer for multilayer applications
  • excellent conductivity
  • outstanding adhesion to alumina and IP9217 multilayer dielectric
  • good printability for fine lines and large area ground planes
  • excellent properties at high print speeds

C5729 Pb/Cd Free Gold Conductor Paste

This is a lead and cadmium free gold conductor paste that has been formulated for easy bonding and fine line, multilayer applications, where high conductivity and high density are critical.

It offers:

  • excellent Al and Au bondability
  • high conductivity
  • fine line printing resolution, 150 micron (6 mil) lines and spaces

C2160B or C2180 Pb/Cd Free Silver/Palladium Conductor Paste

This Pd/Ag conductor paste is used as a buffer layer to retard Ag migration between the dissimilar metallurgies.

These materials provide:

  • outstanding via fill to dielectric adhesion
  • excellent surface coplanarity
  • good conductivity
  • easy to process
  • slows Ag migration

What resistors are recommended for IP9217?

R8900DG or R8900DB Series Air-Fired Resistor System

The Heraeus resistor system is designed for use on top of IP9217 dielectric as well as alumina, over a range of 1Ω/sq—1MΩ/sq.

  • complete process and profile insensitivity
  • excellent noise and STOL values
  • outstanding post trim laser stability after long term storage
  • TCRs of ±100ppm for 10Ω/sq—1MΩ/sq resistors

How fine of features can I screen print with IP9217?

Fine printing of IP9217

Using a 325 mesh screen, a seasoned operator can print down to 125-150 microns using IP9217.

What is the CTE of IP9217?

Thermomechanical Analysis IP9217

The CTE of IP9217 is as follows: CTEHeating [50-600°C] = 8.5 – 9.5ppm/K
