Heraeus Photovoltaics showcased its unwavering commitment to PV innovation at SNEC 2023, creating numerous eye-catching moments. Let us embark on a review of our five highlights at the Expo.

SNEC 2023

New Products

At SNEC 2023, Heraeus Photovoltaics made a significant impact with its booth situated in the Brand Hall for PV Module Materials and Accessories. Under the theme of “Driving Global Green Transformation with Heraeus Metallization Paste”, Heraeus Photovoltaics spotlighted its latest generation of silver pastes tailored to different PV technology roadmaps including TOPCon, BC n+ poly, PERC, and low-temperature technologies.

Heraeus Photovoltaics considers every product innovation as a dedicated effort to make the Earth a better place through the power of technology. In the future, Heraeus Photovoltaics will leverage its expertise in silver paste, coupled with proactive innovation and extensive experience to establish a strong presence within the supply chain. By doing so, it strives to help numerous customers in China reduce costs and improve efficiency, while also contributing to China’s industrial green transformation and the ambitious goals of carbon peak by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2060.

New Cooperation

On the first day of the exhibition, Heraeus Photovoltaics launched Heraeus Joint Innovation Center (HJIC) and hosted a signing ceremony. Heraeus Photovoltaics has always attached significance to openness and innovation. The Global Business Unit within the Heraeus Group has recently joined forces with its business partners to establish a photovoltaic metallization innovation platform. This platform is intended to bring together resources and advanced technologies, ushering in a new generation of cooperation in digital innovation. Through collaborative efforts, Heraeus Photovoltaics and its partners aim to explore and implement innovative metallization solutions that will enable the industry to achieve green development and reap the benefits of synergistic innovation.

At the event, Heraeus Photovoltaics inked cooperation agreements with a host of important partners, including Brave Precision MFG (SuZhou) Co., Ltd., DOWA Electronics Materials Co., Ltd., Covestro (Shanghai) Investment Co., Ltd., Suzhou Smart Advanced Coating Technologies Co., Ltd., and Wuhan DR Laser Technology Co., Ltd. These collaborations will help to jointly promote the sustainable development of the global PV industry.

Exchange of New Ideas

As the world’s most influential PV event, SNEC serves as a communication platform for PV companies, medias, associations, and research institutions. During the event, Heraeus Photovoltaics received an array of guests and visitors from various backgrounds. Through in-depth discussion and communication, Heraeus Photovoltaics enhanced the mutual understanding and built trust with them. This laid down a solid foundation for future cooperation.

Heraeus Photovoltaics garnered significant media coverage during the event, capturing the attention and interest of prominent industry vertical media outlets such as Blackhawk PV, Mole PV, PV Frontier, PV Tech, Solarbe, Solarzoom (in alphabetical order).

New Accolades

On the last day of the exhibition, the Asian Photovoltaic Industry Association (APVIA) presented Heraeus Photovoltaics with “APVIA Honorable Award - Technological Achievement (for Enterprise)” in recognition of Heraeus Photovoltaics’ contribution to the industry.

Over the past two years, Heraeus Photovoltaics have achieved a substantial reduction of nearly 50% in laydown for PERC applications. Drawing from this experience, it is poised to assist the industry in reducing the total cost of ownership of TOPCon cells in the future. With excellent resistance to acetic acid, Heraeus Photovoltaics’ metallization solutions for TOPCon cells further enhance module stability. Heraeus Photovoltaics specializes in providing customized front-side and back-side metallization solutions for specific applications. Through partnerships along the value chain, the company strives to maximize metallization efficiency, and optimize the cost structure to ensure customers can enhance their market competitiveness.

New Expectations

When it comes to the development trend of high-efficiency solar cell technology this year, Bill Gao, President of Heraeus Photovoltaics, said: “While Heraeus has developed product lines for various high-efficiency cell technologies, we exercise caution and avoid making hasty determinations regarding the future direction of each technology roadmap. Our primary focus is on our key customers. We closely monitor their activities and align our efforts to complement and support their initiatives. By working hand in hand, we aim to achieve mutual growth and success. This year, we will partner with industry players to set new records in PERC technology, while expediting the mass production processes of TOPCon and HJT technologies, and facilitating the rapid industrialization of emerging battery technologies like BC.”

Dr. Zhouping Ai, President of Heraeus Greater China, expressed unwavering confidence in the PV industry. “Heraeus is a German family business with more than 300 years’ history and a FORTUNE Global 500 technology group. China has always been one of our most important markets with ‘In China, for China’ as our long-term development strategy,” he said. “Heraeus is very optimistic towards the photovoltaics market in China. We will continue to invest and grow as a group and aim to support the Photovoltaics Business Unit in providing services to more Chinese customers.”

The conclusion of this year’s SNEC marks another step towards a brighter future for those who continuously contribute to the PV industry. Heraeus Photovoltaics eagerly anticipates reconvening with you in June next year to engage in meaningful discussions about photovoltaics. Together, we will forge a path towards a zero-carbon future.
