This case study takes a closer look at the potential of flexible and compliant systems in mechanical engineering and their technological advantage through the use of amorphous alloys in 3D printing, based on the machine element of a solid-state joint itself and the success story of the amorphous component on a TRUMPF machine.

With compliant systems, not only can hinges in the sense of rotating pairs be upgraded in performance compared to the classic rigid-body system, but also prismatic or translational motions or even screw arrangements and rotational motions can be replicated in compliant systems with suitably high-performance material.
