What do 25 kilometers of cable and a gold wire bonder have in common?
Heraeus Noblelight opens state-of-the-art UV LED module production in Europe
With the increasing use of UV LED solutions in the industry Heraeus Noblelight has put its production on a professional platform that meets the latest requirements.
Within just 84 days, a single-storey warehouse was turned into one of Europe's most modern and largest UV LED module productions. Not only were 25 kilometres of cable, 2.2 kilometers of pipelines and 30 tons of steel installed but state-of-the-art technology was integrated, including a gold wire bonder. The gold wire bonder is at the heart of the production and implements the electrical contacting of the LED chips. Production was designed based on the latest lean and quality standards, including clean-room technology. With the professional manufacturing infrastructure and the chip-on-board (COB) line, the production volume is increasing tremendously.
"Our production is now designed for large quantities of standard products but still, we can also implement customized UV LED modules and systems. That is important to satisfy the global market demand,” explains Dr. Michael Peil. He is one of the "UV LED pioneers" at Heraeus and is today responsible for the global sales of UV LED solutions.
