Heraeus was selected as the 16th Korea Green Energy Excellence Company. Hosted by Hankook Ilbo, one of Korea's leading daily newspapers, this competition is sponsored by the Korea Environment Corporation (K-Eco) and the Korea Energy Economics Institute (KEEI), and technologies, products, and management (administration) of excellent Korean institutions and companies that are constantly striving to save energy and improve the environment will be presented.

Heraeus Noblelight, which has recently received the Mobility Innovation Award from the German Transport Science Society (DVWG) for product development and efforts for a sustainable future, provides solutions for integrated light sources from infrared to UV. Compared to conventional hot air drying, the infrared drying process is increasing the production speed, up to doubling it. Infrared drying has the advantages of increasing production efficiency and reducing costs and is applied in the electrode productions, which otherwise can be a bottle neck of the total production process for lithium-ion batteries. Infrared systems require sophisticated and advanced technology because many parameters have a great influence on drying results. Heraeus provides unrivaled solutions with global application centers, simulation technology, and technology and experience in integrated light sources. Heraeus infrared solutions with patented carbon infrared lamps can be applied in a variety of fields ranging from mobility as well as energy, food and beverage, display and printing.

In addition, Heraeus Precious Metals, which provides precious metals services and products, has launched a low-Iridium loaded, high-efficiency  catalyst for PEM water electrolysis. This makes it possible to produce hydrogen via water splitting using 50 to 90% less iridium compared to existing products along with up to 3 times higher catalytic performance. Iridium and platinum are essential and the first one also scarce raw material for PEM water electrolysis catalysts. Heraeus catalysts enable sustainable use of precious metals, which plays an important role to produce green hydrogen from renewable energy in industrial scale.
