Lamps for Fluorescence spectroscopy

Lamps for Fluorescence spectroscopy

Fluorescence spectroscopy is used for qualitative and quantitative analyses of molecular substances, usually organic substances.
The substances may be liquid or solid. The method is usually applied in laboratories but more and more also in mobile spectrometers that can examine samples on site.

UV lamps are used as light sources for fluorescence spectroscopy. The rays are bundled and directed to the sample and the spectrum of the light re-emitted by the sample is analysed at an angle of 90°. The spectrum can be used to determine the composition of the sample.

This analytical method is used especially often in biology, biochemistry, medicine and environmental applications, e.g. to analyse proteins, DNA or the quality of water.
